Out of Character Name: STEFF Intended Journal: Character Name: Kingsley William Shacklebolt Age/Birthdate: 8 / June 3rd, 1957 House/Year: Will become a Ravenclaw Bloodline: Halfblood Alignment: Light, not that he really knows it yet Occupation: Student Sexuality: Heterosexual, but again he doesn't really know Appearance: Kinglsey is a boy of average height for his age. Like most children, Kingsley is slim and has a high speed metabolism. Therefore, he can eat all the candy, chocolate, and cake he wants and never gain a pound. There's nothing particularly special about his stature. If he were to get into a fist-fight with another eight year old, he'd be able to hold his own. Against an ten or twelve year old? Kingsley will definitely be on the ground and pummelled. He looks up to grown-ups, and prays for the days he'll be as big and strong and tall as them. The most noticeable thing about Kingsley is his hair. His mother has allowed it to grow long, which adds inches upon inches to his height. His hair is curled tightly in the traditional African way, and Kingsley loves it. It's usually full of knots and tangles, but his mum is ace at getting them out. He has a round face, chocolate eyes, and a bright smile. He's a young cutie, and has been told more than once he's going to grow up and be quite handsome. PB: JADEN SMITH please please please. I refuse to give a second choice since there IS NO OTHER. Personality: In typical nine-year old fashion, Kingsley Shacklebolt is a child full of energy. This can prove to be a good trait, but it also proves to be a horrible trait. Most of the time, Kingsley is incredibly enthusiastic about whatever he is doing. He has been known to put his whole self into whatever he's trying to accomplish, whether it's running laps around his backyard or whether it's making his mother the prefect macaroni necklace. At other times, Kingsley's energy can cause him to be very competitive - sometimes far too competitive. Kings has a knack for making a battle out of everything, from playing sports to eating the fastest to spitting contests. Many adults thinks his competitive nature is cute, but his parents know better. They have been forced to participate in competition upon competition over the years. Not only is Kingsley competitive, he likes to win. When he doesn't? He sulks, throws tantrums, and sometimes even cries. Losing is not something Kingsley does with grace, and his parents often let the boy win even when he shouldn't. Kingsley is currently the definition of a sore-loser, something that he will eventually grow out of. With all his energy, Kingsley is a rather rambunctious little boy. He hardly ever sits still, and can be quite a handful. He is rather spirited and inspiring, but he can also be very annoying and tedious. When Kingsley isn't trying to coax people into competitions, he can be quite an observant boy. He has been known to pick up on the most subtle of signals, and often asks his teachers why they are sad when no other students notice. Kings has also noticed that he can do strange things that other children in his classes can't do - which was quickly rectified when his parents informed him he was a wizard. Of course, when he tried to convince his muggle school-mates of this they merely laughed at him. Growing up, Kingsley was never satisfied with his "age-appropriate" toys or puzzles, he was always thirsty for the more advanced ones. It took him four hours to create a lego world that took his father four days, signalling to his parents that Kingsley was going to be a very intelligent boy. Kings enjoys solving puzzles and problems, and since he could figure them out has been excelling past what's expected of him. His imagination is also pretty superb, although Kingsley is always the King or sheriff. He successfully uses the argument of his name being royal every time. Obviously Kingsley is meant to be a King, after all. He likes being in charge, to the point of almost being a touch bossy. In group work, Kingsley is the type of student who completely takes over, and delegates task. In the sandbox, Kingsley makes the biggest castle and knocks over any that threatens his. Needless to say, this in-charge trait will eventually lead Kingsley into being Minister for Magic. Like most young children, Kingsley likes things a certain way. He also likes to do what he wants and not what others want. Those two combined, and Kingsley becomes quite a stubborn little boy. He's a bit adverse to change because he likes things to go his way. Being an only child has allowed Kingsley to get most everything his way, since there isn't any other siblings to change his parents' minds. On the days Kingsley really doesn't want to do something, it's near impossible to change his mind. However, when Kingsley wants to get something? He has been known to be quite the little charmer. His mother is often completely taken aback with the things Kingsley has said and done. He has been known to bring breakfast-in-bed (which is more like cereal-in-bed), craft her jewelry or picture frames, and clean his room to a tee. Although, all of this is only when he wants something - and if he doesn't get it, that sore-loser sulking aspect kicks in. At school, Kingsley has lots of friends, especially girls. Since it's not fair to compete against girls, Kingsley has acquired many admirers by gifting and charming them. For now, he's very comfortable around girls, and hasn't bought into that whole cootie nonsense. Five Positive Traits: Charming, fearless, enthusiastic, intelligent, observant Five Negative Traits: Overly competitive, sore-loser, rambunctious, stubborn, bossy Special Abilities: None Family: Alwaid Shacklebolt (Father), Maya Shacklebolt (Mother) History: Alwaid Shacklebolt graduated Hogwarts and went to work in an entry level position for the Ministry. It wasn't anything special, but it was a job and income. Alwaid had no aspirations within the Ministry, he was just happy to have a job - as for becoming a department head? Not something Alwaid was focused on. For now, he was happy making friends with his coworkers and heading out to the bars and taverns after work for a few drinks. It was about two years into his employment with the Ministry that Alwaid met Maya Johnston. It took him nearly all night to get the courage to go and talk to her, since she was so goddess-like in Alwaid's mind. After a few drinks, Alwaid introduced himself to Maya and history began. The pair spent the rest of the night chatting and drinking, shared phone numbers, and made a date to see each other again. After seeing each other a second time, Maya and Alwaid simply couldn't get enough of each other. They continued making dates and having a fantastic time. Alwaid knew that Maya was a muggle, and was struggling to find a way to tell her about being a wizard. What sort of grown woman would believe it anyway? About a year after the couple started dating, Alwaid finally came clean to Maya. He was pleasantly surprised when she took the news well, she'd known a wizard or two in her time, and had actually suspected for quite a while. Needless to say, Alwaid was thrilled. Hardly three months later, Alwaid proposed and was absolutely gleeful when Maya accepted. They set a date for early summer, and got down to planning - they had just under a year to make everything perfect. The wedding was lavish, expensive, and perfect for the couple. Friends and family from all around showed up, and Maya looked absolutely beautiful. The couple took their honeymoon in Tazmania, where both have ancestral routes. This would soon become a place they often visited with Kingsley, and it would eventually become Kingsley's absolute favourite place to be. Kingsley was conceived on that honeymoon, but the couple wasn't surprised. They had indirectly been trying to get pregnant, and both were ecstatic. They might have been young, but their hearts were full of wonder and optimism. Maya continued to work her secretary job, but the couple decided if Alwaid received a promotion by the time Maya was off her maternity leave, she would stop working. Luckily for them and Kingsley, Alwaid did receive a promotion almost immediately after this talk. Once arriving home from their honeymoon, the couple glowed and were full of happiness. Kingsley came on a cool June morning. Rain was in the forecast, which made things a whole lot easier on Maya. Out came a beautiful and healthy baby boy, and neither parent has ever been happier than that moment. From early on, Kingsley proved to be a fussy baby. He cried for attention throughout the night, wasn't happy with just sitting around looking cute, and certainly wouldn't drink formula. Although it was difficult, Maya and Alwaid did anything and everything they could for Kingsley. They took advice from their friends, family, and advice columns, and eventually Kings stopped crying throughout the night, and they even found him toys that kept him entertained for hours. Although Kingsley often showed signs of magic, Alwaid and Maya had decided to send him to muggle school before he got into Hogwarts. There was always a slim chance he wouldn't, anyway. At five, Kingsley entered Kindergarten. He enjoyed being there and learning, and Maya was able to find another secretary job to fill her days. Kingsley was quite enough child for them, and the couple weren't looking to have another. Kings was quite happy to be an only child. He'd learned that if he wanted something badly enough and asked his parents enough times, he would eventually get it. Yes, he was spoiled, but it was never obscene. Kingsley often had to earn presents through chores and respect, and punishments often involved taking things away and Kingsley having to earn them back. He's learned a sense of responsibility through this, although he is still a child. His grammar and writing is probably much better than pureblooded children his age because of muggle school, and he may know random facts they don't. It was a few days after Christmas that Kingsley woke in a strange bed. What year are they coming from?: December, 1965 Three Random Facts: ONE] If Kingsley knew anything about the American stereotypes of Black people, he would fit right in. After quidditch, his two favourite things are dancing and basketball. This is mostly because his father loves basketball, and his mum loves dancing. TWO] The Wimborune Wasps are Kingsley's favourite team, and his favourite colour is yellow. His parents have promised to buy him an owl when he gets his letter from Hogwarts, and Kingsley is going to name it Wimby. THREE] Kingsley's favourite game to play is "Kings and Dragons". Basically, he plays a king and other children play dragons, and he slays them. Sometimes he plays with his father (one of Kingsley's loyal servants, of course) and they slay imaginary dragons. |
